What is means to forgive and to be forgiven?

Forgiveness can be described as forgiving those who have done wrong; accepting the shortcomings of others; giving people a second chance and not being vengeful. Within a relationship forgiveness represents positive changes that occur within an individual who has been offended or damaged by the other person. His/her basic motivations or action tendencies regarding the transgressor become more positive (e.g. benevolent, kind, generous) and less negative (e.g. vengeful, avoidant).

In posts to come by God’s grace we will talk about how to let go of deep pain of the past and what to do if the offender keeps transgressing.

Guidance from the Word of God.

Matthew 6:14 – 15

“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
